recipe swap-it's turkey time y'all!!


is thanksgiving less than a week away??
where has 2011 gone??
the fatter older i get, the quicker it comes!!

i was looking for some new ideas for turkey day so i wanted to do the swap this week vs. next.
so, link up whatever ya got....new...old...even what you are going to try!

i am sharing what i will be taking to my momma's :)

 Zee Spotted Pig Bloody Mary


    1. 1/2 cup finely grated peeled fresh horseradish
    2. 2 ounces Worcestershire sauce
    3. 2 ounces Sriracha chile sauce
    4. Finely grated zest of 1 small lemon
    5. 2 teaspoons celery salt
    6. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
    7. Freshly ground pepper
    8. 32 ounces tomato juice
    9. Ice
    10. 16 ounces vodka
    11. Lime wedges
    12. Pickled or fresh vegetables (optional)


  1. In a pitcher, combine the horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Sriracha, lemon zest, celery salt, kosher salt and 2 teaspoons ground pepper. Add the tomato juice and stir well. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours.
  2. Pour the tomato juice mixture into 8 ice-filled rocks glasses. Add 2 ounces vodka to each glass and stir. Garnish each drink with a pinch of ground pepper, a lime wedge and pickled vegetables.

  • Combine brown sugar, flour, nuts and butter in mixing bowl. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine sweet potatoes, sugar, salt, vanilla, eggs and butter in a mixing bowl in the order listed. Mix thoroughly.
  • Pour mixture into buttered baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the surface of the sweet potato mixture evenly with the crust mixture.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to set at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Serves 6 Hint: Double the recipe. People will love the leftovers, which also freeze beautifully.

southern nana' puddin'

4-1/2 cups milk
2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Cook & Serve Pudding
3 eggs, separated
42 NILLA Wafers (1/2 of 12-oz. pkg.)
2 large bananas, sliced
Dash cream of tartar
1/3 cup sugar make it

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Add milk to dry pudding mix in medium saucepan; stir until well blended. Lightly beat egg yolks in small bowl. Add to milk mixture; mix well. Bring to full rolling boil on medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

ARRANGE layer of wafers on bottom and up side of 2-qt. baking dish. Top with layers of one third of the pudding and one half of the banana slices. Repeat layers; cover with the remaining pudding.

BEAT egg whites and cream of tartar in medium bowl with electric mixer on high speed until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Spread over pudding, sealing to edge of dish.

BAKE 15 min. or until meringue is browned. Cool. Serve warm or refrigerate until ready to serve. Store leftover pudding in refrigerator.
